THE PROVERBS 31 KIND OF WOMAN

Who is the Proverbs 31 kind of woman? The proverbs 31 kind of woman is a woman married to a man not too physically strong and industrious and all the duty of keeping and providing for the household lies on her. The Proverbs 31 kind of woman is not a widow. She is the woman whose husband "sits at the gate" Vs 23, but she can't "sit at the gate because she has lots of things to do, yet she does not insult him and tell him how miserable his life is when he comes back, rather she rises up and give him food and also feed all in her house Vs 15. She is a strong woman, she does not know idleness Vs 27.

Maybe the Proverbs 31 woman's husband is sick and or aged, or maybe he is just naturally weak and lazy. Many women are going through several things in the hands of the men they got married to; someone complained in a seminar I saw online, that her husband does not work, he is a drunk and he beats her at every little provocation. Some were not strong but because their husbands are not doing much to help situations in the house, they have to "rise up", these are the Proverbs 31 kind of women - they do all these willingly Vs 13, they don't complain. The preacher calls them " the virtuous women".

It could also be that the Proverbs 31 woman's husband was handicapped in war and she had to stand in for him to cover his shame - she did not leave him and re - marry another man, she stayed with him because when the days were good he took very good care of her; she could not forget the love they shared in a hurry. She is a very rich woman Vs 16, dealing with the biggest traders of her time Vs 14: yet she is not ashamed of her husband. Her wealth, influence and fame did not take away her love for her family, neither did it prevent her from doing the duties she ought to do in her house not minding that she has house maids! She even has enough to give to the poor.

I respect this woman so much. I respect her strength and love. At the present, I know I am not the Proverbs 31 kind of woman. Most women, including spiritual leaders who have thought Proverbs 31:10-31 before are not anything close to the Proverbs 31 kind of woman because our husbands won't let us be! I pray that no occasion will ever arise that will make me be, but if it ever comes up I pray for strength from God to be!
